A Textbook Transformation

Department for Education modernises IT estate to enable staff to work closer with schools and colleges

To enable staff to work more closely with the education sector, the Department for Education needed to change its technologies and approach to accessing data.

We had a very ambitious programme that could have gone one of two ways: we were fortunate to have the right people by our side and that Computacenter helped us to choose the right technology

Adrian Tucker, Chief Technology Officer, Department for Education

OBJECTIVES

  • Improve efficiency
  • Enable more mobile working
  • Build a platform for the future

By equipping staff with mobile devices, they are freed up from the confines of the office and can work in the field with more schools and colleges. The project provides the building blocks to enable users to work more effectively alongside education bodies and support wider digitalisation initiatives

SOLUTION

The organisation partnered with Computacenter to support its plan for modernisation. As part of the project, Computacenter helped roll out 4,000 user devices, which are instrumental to the department’s digital ambitions.

Outcome

  • Better collaboration with schools and colleagues
  • More flexible working
  • Improved user satisfaction and engagement
