a more efficient and effective organisation
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) was tasked with creating a more efficient and effective organisation, by improving its processes, structures and systems in order to provide a world-class diplomatic service for years to come.

One of the main tools where the FCO has been notoriously weak is IT. Our Tech Overhaul project aims to change that quickly
Simon MacDonald, Permanent Undersecretary, Foreign and Commonwealth Office
Objective
The end user devices at FCO were tied to a physical location, which was preventing flexible working and collaboration. The FCO needed to update their IT environment to break down silos and allow staff to work in different locations around the globe, taking their devices with them, whilst also preserving security and reducing costs.
£120m Tech Overhaul project to revolutionise the FCO’s IT workplace and infrastructure, with focus on improving speed, stability and reliability, and offering users greater flexibility, mobility and collaboration.
Solution
Working with the FCO and other contractors within the FCO’s Tech Overhaul programme, Computacenter were engaged to transform the workplace and underlying infrastructure.
Outcomes
Succeeding in meeting the strategic objective to improve mobility, flexibility and collaboration, as well as saving costs.
