EVALUATING THE CLOUD
HUK COBURG
Cloud maturity assessment
To effectively assess its cloud readiness, the insurer needed an objective and multi-vendor service provider who could conduct a situation and SWOT/GAP analysis for HUK-COBURG as part of a cloud maturity assessment (CMA).

We were convinced by Computacenter’s manufacturer independence, the modular process and the proven expertise of its consultants
Dr. Michael Weiß, Operations Coordinator, IT HUK-COBURG
Objective
HUK-COBURG, Germany’s biggest car insurer, has been exploring the complex issue of cloud computing for years. It conducted an extensive conceptual assessment and use-based evaluation of cloud solutions in 2013. This was followed by proofs of concept (PoCs), covering private cloud, self-managed and on premise. The success of these initial PoCs led to the evaluation of further cloud delivery models and service customisations (IaaS versus SaaS) as well as the cloud readiness of the HUK organisation and technology.
Cloud is now an accepted operating model for HUK-COBURG with initial public cloud use cases being implemented.
Solution
Following extensive research and a multi-stage selection process HUK-COBURG partnered with Computacenter. Computacenter conducted a multi-level CMA using standardised guidelines and questionnaires for a series of interviews.Outcome
As a result of the cloud maturity assessment, HUK-COBURG now has a SWOT/GAP analysis of its cloud maturity together with prioritised areas for action. It also has access to an evaluation of cloud providers relevant to HUK.
